The BIG Walk 2026 – staff

Welcome to The BIG Walk 2026 – our favourite event of the year! 

This year, we’re excited to introduce a new route along the Grand Union Canal, with 3 distances to choose from – 18 miles, 12 miles or 6 miles: 

Choose your route: 

• 18 miles – Apsley to Wendover 
• 12 miles – Berkhamsted to Wendover 
•  6 miles – Tring Reservoirs to Wendover

Route details

The 18-mile walk starts at Apsley Marina, following the Grand Union Canal for the first 6 miles. Walkers will then be joined by our 12-mile participants in Berkhamsted, continuing together to Tring. 

Our 6-mile walkers will join at Tring Reservoir, and from there everyone will walk the beautiful Wendover Arm of the Grand Union Canal, finishing at Wendover Memorial Hall. Refreshments and photo opportunities will be waiting at the finish line. 

Important information 

• Well-behaved dogs are welcome!

• We’re delighted that John Colet School is partnering with Pace again this year and offering free parking for participants and volunteers

Registration & transport 

Registration: Wendover Memorial Hall, Wharf Road, Wendover, HP22 6HF 

• Shuttle coaches will take you to the start points of the routes

• All routes finish back at Wendover Memorial Hall
