What is Boccia?
Boccia is a Paralympic target sport specifically designed for people with physical disabilities. Originally developed for individuals with Cerebral Palsy, the sport has grown to include athletes with a wide range of neurological and physical conditions.
Boccia enables players with even the most complex physical disabilities to compete independently through the use of specialist equipment and support. Success is determined not by strength or speed, but by strategy, accuracy and decision-making, making it one of the few sports where athletes can compete entirely on their own terms.

My name is James, and I have been involved in Boccia for over 10 years, supporting players from beginners to athletes competing for Great Britain.
As an Occupational Therapist and Assistive Technology Technician at Pace, I take a holistic approach to helping athletes participate, build confidence, and reach their potential. Throughout my career, I have supported players to achieve success at both domestic and international levels, including medal-winning performances.
One of the highlights of my career was helping my best friend achieve his lifelong dream of competing at the Paralympic Games.
I am passionate about Boccia because it provides meaningful, competitive opportunities for people of all abilities. I believe that with the right support, equipment, and environment, everyone can enjoy and succeed in the sport.
