From Aston Rowant Nature Reserve, we head out into the glorious Chiltern Hills. Our route starting with a fantastic view for miles from Beacon Hill, before descending to tackle a short flat stretch of the Ridgeway. This ancient track is said to be the oldest road in Britain – an 87 mile trade route dating back at least 5,000 years. After leaving the Ridgeway we climb steep Bald Hill and Pyrton Hill to reach Christmas Common. We make our way back up through the Getty’s Wormsley Park, home of Garsington Opera in the Hambleden Valley. This is an area known for it’s population of Red Kites, as Sir Paul Getty stepped in to offer the site for their reintroduction in 1989. Once we exit the Wormsley Estate, we cross back over the motorway and return to our starting point in the Aston Rowant Nature Reserve.
