Lunch Time Assistant

Responsible to: Team leader Overall responsibility to the Head Teacher
Job Purpose: To work within the groups during the lunch time period assisting staff in preparing lunches and clearing the room in preparation for afternoon programmes.

  1. Helping to prepare and serve children’s pre-cooked lunches, including correct heating of lunches.
  2. Clearing away lunch, washing up and tidying kitchen area as directed by team members/leader.
  3. Washing and drying of group laundry, e.g. towels and tea towels.
  4. Reading stories and/or participating in recreational activities with children.
  5. Sharing supervision duties with other team members.
  6. Tidying away activities and preparing classroom for afternoon programmes.
  7. To seek advice and take guidance from team members regarding the management and handling of the children.
  8. To comply with all health, safety and hygiene procedures.
  9. To assist team in general classroom maintenance tasks as and when required.

Level Two Food Safety Certificate will be required.

12 – 2pm Monday – Friday, Term time only. Competitive rate of pay. Experience of working with children with special needs would be an advantage but not essential.
