Nursery Group

Little Acorns

Little Acorns is our nursery group where early therapeutic intervention is combined with The Early Years Foundation Curriculum, to provide a unique approach for children aged 2-4 with sensory motor challenges.

The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is delivered in a way that integrates the learning of sensory motor, social, emotional, academic and self help skills. The emphasis is on promoting active participation, helping your child to acquire the foundation skills they need for life and to become as independent as possible.

The curriculum is tailored to your child’s needs with careful consideration of communication and language development, physical and motor development, personal, social and emotional development.

Through specialist play techniques children in the group are encouraged to look, listen, sit, stand, move independently, play, use their hands, communicate with others and understand preschool concepts.

This specialist curriculum is developed and delivered by a transdisciplinary team including early years professionals, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and conductive educationalists.

Our aim is to work with you to help your child maximise their developmental potential and to prepare either for successful integration into a mainstream school setting, transition into Pace Primary Services, or into an alternative education provision.

We work collaboratively with parents to set goals and provide practical strategies and advice.

To help children with socialisation and transition into Little Acorns, children under 2 years can join the group following individual therapy sessions. They will attend the group sessions with a parent/carer.
