SUMMARY:Pen y Fan & Waterfalls
DESCRIPTION:Your opportunity to climb the highest peak and waterfall in South Wales in one weekend! \n\nSaturday: Waterfall Country (Brecon Beacons) \nWe take a walk into the mystic wooded valleys of the Brecon Beacons\, famous for being home to some of the most magnificent waterfalls in the UK.  Amongst these is Henrhyd Falls\, the highest waterfall in South Wales\, with a single drop of over 90ft. In Henrhyd\, you are not only visiting the spectacular falls used as the cave entrance in the Batman films\, but you can actually walk behind it\, which really is something to experience! \nWe will trek 9 miles to visit an impressive 8 different\, but equally spectacular waterfalls in all. Depending on the time of year and depth of the water\, we will be able to cross in front of some\, swim beneath others and even walk behind one or two on this truly incredible walk. \n\nSunday: Pen y Fan Horseshoe \n\nThe highest peak in South Wales provides a challenging climb to the summit standing at 886m. The horseshoe route is just over 9miles long and will take around 6 hours to complete. \nAn early start sees us meet in the Brecon Beacon’s Taf Fechan Forest and the walk begins with the steepest climb of the day. We continue with a more restful flatter ridge for around half an hour\, before heading up to the first of our 4 summits\, Corn Du. On a clear day\, we start to take in the most magical view for miles\, towering over the surrounding Welsh countryside. After Corn Du\, we drop a little\, before climbing to our highest point\, the impressive summit of Pen y Fan at 886m.  \nWe continue around this circular horseshoe route with a quick descent before climbing once more to the top of the next peak\, Cribyn. As we look back\, the views of Pen y Fan’s steep face arching around behind us is one of the most iconic in the Brecon Beacons. \nFinally walkers have the option of either taking a well earned rest or tackling the shorter sharp out and back ascent of Fan-y-Big. Without doubt the best way to explore it’s amazing landscape is by foot. This ancient track is said to be the oldest road in Britain – an 87 mile trade route dating back at least 5\,000 years. After leaving the Ridgeway we climb steep Bald Hill and Pyrton Hill to reach Christmas Common. We make our way back up through the Getty’s Wormsley Park\, home of Garsington Opera in the Hambleden Valley. This is an area known for it’s population of Red Kites\, as Sir Paul Getty stepped in to offer the site for their reintroduction in 1989. DESCRIPTION:On day one\, we start from the picturesque Hope Valley village of Castleton and under the shadows of Peveril Castle\, we head out through Cave Dale\, before reaching a stunning view from the summit of Mam Tor. We follow the famous Great Ridge over Back Tor and Lose Hill before crossing the river Noe and returning along Peakshole Water from the pretty village of Hope (approx 9 miles). \nOn day two\, we leave from Edale in the beautiful Hope Valley\, and take on a tough climb to reach the plateau of Kinder Scout\, famed for the historic mass trespass that leads the way to today’s public rights of way and access to so many beautiful parts of the UK. DESCRIPTION:Join us for some half term family fun at our inaugural ‘Winter Waggle’ dog walk in the grounds of the stunning Waddesdon Manor Estate\, on Friday 16th February. \nWe have a 2k wheelchair accessible route\, and a 3k and 5k all around Waddesdon Manor\, Waddesdon\, Aylesbury HP18 0JH\, registration takes place at the Welcome Pavilion\, between 11.00 – 11.30 am and the walk starts at 11.30 am. \nWhy not gather your friends too and spend some time together as the perfect way to end the half term break. \nEveryone is welcome whether you have a furry best friend or not! \nFree parking available. \nGet your ticket now: \nEarly bird tickets 22nd November – 8th February \n£10 adult / £5 child \nTickets one week before 8th – 15th February \n£12 adult / £7 child \nAny tickets bought on the day – £15 adult / £10 child \nDogs go free. \nFor many of the children at Pace just achieving independent mobility is a huge achievement and takes years of practice. DESCRIPTION:This stunning route takes in fantastic views of the Bucks and Bedfordshire countryside. \nWe start from the beautiful Georgian village of Woburn\, home to more than 200 listed buildings\, a stately home and a Safari Park. DESCRIPTION:The BIG Walk \nFor many of the children at Pace just achieving independent mobility is a huge achievement and takes years of practice. Whether it’s taking one step or learning to use a motorised wheelchair the challenges they overcome to be independent are huge. But YOU can help them achieve their goals and transform the lives of children with a neurodisability like cerebral palsy by putting on your own walking shoes and joining us for the 2024 BIG Walk. \nChoice of three routes: \n\n18 m – Watlington to Wendover\n12 m – Chinnor to Wendover\n6 m – Princes Risborough to Wendover\n\nAll routes take in the ancient Ridgeway Trail. \nRegistration takes place at the Wendover Memorial Hall\, Wharf Road\, Wendover\, HP22 6HF. \nParking is available at the John Colet School. \nRegistration times: \n\n18 m – 7.15 am\n12 m – 9.45 am\n6 m  – 11.45 am\n\nShuttle coach departure times to start: \n\n18 m – 8.10 am\n12 m – 10.40 am\n6 m – 12.30 pm\n\nWalk start times: \n\n18 m – 9.00 am\n12 m – 11.15 am\n6 m – 1.00 pm\n\n£15 registration fee includes: \n\nA BIG Walk t-shirt\nA medal\nWater & snacks\nSupport team\n\nBy taking part in the BIG Walk\, you not only have the opportunity to explore this beautiful countryside in a completely unique way\, but you will also be helping us to provide life changing support to the 400 children and young people who access Pace services. \nThe Superhero Mile \nThe Superhero Mile is a fun\, family friendly wheelchair accessible event open to all ages and abilities – where small steps can make a BIG difference. \nDress as your favourite superhero (optional) and whether you are superman or super gran\, we will clap\, cheer and support our superheroes as they go around the grounds of the John Colet School.  All in aid of our superheroes at Pace! \nRegistration takes place at the Wendover Memorial Hall\, Wharf Road\, Wendover\, HP22 6HF. \nParking is available at the John Colet School. \nRegistration from 1.30 pm \nWalk starts at 2.00 pm \n£5 registration fee includes: \n\nA participants medal\nWater & snacks\nSupport team\n\n

After Christmas we can take the strain of disposing of your tree! \nPace and our fabulous partners are offering a Christmas Tree collection service again this year and all trees will be recycled too. What’s not to like? \nWe ask for a minimum donation of £10 per tree – however\, we would be really grateful for any additional donation you can make. \nOur usual volunteers along with Farmer Paul Aylesbury are kindly supporting this event and will be collecting your trees! \nWhen you book your collection please make sure your address and postcode are entered correctly as we will not be able to provide refunds if the right information is not given.  \nYour tree needs to be outside your house before 8am on Saturday 11th January. \nPlease note we will not be knocking when we collect your tree\, and we will not be taking any wreaths or trees that are still decorated. \nWe will only be collecting from the following areas – Aylesbury\, Bedgrove\, Elm Farm\, Buckingham Park\, Berryfields\, Fairford Leys\, Wendover\, Halton\, Aston Clinton\, Weston Turville\, Stoke Mandeville\, Bierton\, Kingsbrook and Watermead.
