School theory of change

2022 Impact Highlights

Our school continues to be rated “excellent” by 100% of respondents. We also found that 100% of respondents rated us as “significantly better” than available alternatives.

We continue to be rated extremely highly by families in the impact we have on their child. This extends across all nine of the school’s curriculum areas. In seven of those areas, 100% of families either “strongly agreed” or “agreed” with the relevant curriculum impact statement (2021: 3 out of 9 areas, 2020: 5 out of 7).

Pace families’ perception of the school’s impact relative to other settings appears to have improved meaningfully, against what was already a very strong base. For the first time, 100% of respondents suggested that Pace has had or will have a “far greater impact” than other available settings on their children’s sensory awareness and processing skills, attention and regulation, emotional wellbeing, and relationships & social interactions.

We continue to deliver great outcomes for the families we support.

All respondents “strongly agreed” or “agreed” with seven of our eight family impact statements, with two statements (“Our family is stronger because of Pace” and “Pace supports the whole family rather than just my child”) achieving 100% for the first time.

One family impact statement (“Because Pace has helped my child to be more able, we are able to do more as a family”) has reduced somewhat (from 95% in 2020 to 83% in 2022). We will seek to understand and, if appropriate, address the reasons for that reduction during the coming year.
“Pace has made a huge impact on our child.
The LA setting wouldn’t have even tried to find J’s voice with a PODD book, or tried a commode. Pace’s philosophy to assume ability until proven otherwise is so important and crucial to development. Our child now has a voice and can use the toilet!”

Personal learning goals (PLGs) are set against the four areas within each child’s education, health and care plan (EHCP). We measure and evaluate progress each term and new goals are set at the start of the new term.

Impact on the whole family

Impact on the whole family

One of our outcomes is enabling families. Understanding that the home environment and family unit are impacted by a child’s condition, and that it can also influence the progress a child makes. So we focus on improving outcomes for the whole family.
