Celebrating World Book Day
We recently celebrated World Book Day at Pace, with lots of our children and staff taking part. There were some fabulous costumes and it was great to hear our students stories about their favourite books.
This amazing Oompa Loompa costume complete with handmade canopy won the student prize, voted for by the students!
Our students really value stories as they can be a window into a new world for someone whose access to the physical world is very limited. They access stories in a range of different ways including audiobooks, people reading with them, as well as learning to read and access writing.

In March we celebrated Conductive Education Week – so what is Conductive Education?
It is a holistic educational system. It helps children with cerebral palsy and neurodisabilities face challenges and be as independent as possible.
CE is central at Pace (particularly Pace School) because it focuses on children’s potential. It fosters a ‘can do’ attitude, where children are challenged to try new things.
Shleena, our Deputy Head says; “I absolutely love it when the children learn to do something new that they’ve never done before!”
Isabelle has cerebral palsy and global developmental delay. She doesn’t get much support from her local NHS community team. But since she and her family came to Pace, Isabelle has been making great progress, through face-to-face sessions and teletherapy during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Ben is 4 and has been coming to Child and Family sessions at Pace since April 2019. Ben lives at home with his Mum, Dad and older brother. He was born at term following an uneventful pregnancy. Ben was found to have a heart defect and required surgery when he was 4 months old.
Bella-Skye’s increased tone makes it difficult for her to use her hands with accuracy and, without intervention, significantly limits how she can access and explore her environment. Bella-Skye is a highly motivated pupil and will always try her best, even when she finds tasks really hard.
Our visitor mornings are unique and very powerful. You will have the opportunity to meet the children that benefit from your support, and the dedicated staff, as well as explore our fantastic facilities. There really is no better way to learn more about our work than to see it first-hand. So join us at our next visitor morning.
Always a sell out! Join us for a game of golf and a buffet lunch in the beautiful surroundings of Buckingham Golf Club. A great way to network with other business plus there will be a live auction and raffle.
