Pace and Wendover C of E Junior School take part in Go Givers – making a difference scheme
Go- Givers is a child-led citizenship project that aims to support pupils in identifying, researching and addressing a cause by developing an awareness – raising campaign, fundraising or taking direct action. It presents an opportunity for them to make a different to their local community and provides an excellent context for meaningful social, moral, spiritual and cultural learning as well as literacy, numeracy and personal development.
All year 3 classes at Wendover Junior School and the groups at Pace have taken it in turn to meet up at Quarrendon & Meadowcroft Community Centre in Aylesbury on three Wednesdays over the last month. Both Wendover Junior School and Pace children had questions to ask each other and used them to demonstrate the ways they communicate. Whether verbally, from a PODD book, eye gaze of sign language, they were able to communicate and learn from each other. They then joined in a game of Boccia, a precision ball sport similar to bocce. A game played by people with severe physical/ motor disabilities.
The children and staff want to thank all at Wendover Junior School for choosing to support Pace throughout this wonderful project. It has been a wonderful learning experience and we all look forward to working with you again in the future.
